Contact

Email [email protected] for support. Joys & Woes is independently developed by Vladislav Morgun.

When reporting a problem, please include:

  • the app version shown at the bottom of Settings;
  • your iPhone model and iOS version;
  • the steps that led to the problem and what you expected to happen;
  • a screenshot, if it is useful and does not reveal private journal content.

Please do not send journal entries, exports or other sensitive personal information unless it is strictly necessary and you are comfortable doing so.

Requirements

The current app is made for iPhone in portrait orientation and requires iOS 17 or later.

Frequently asked questions

Where is my journal stored?

The current version stores journal entries and attachments locally on this iPhone. It does not sync the journal through iCloud or a developer server. Regular exports are recommended if you want a separate copy.

How do I back up or move my data?

Open Settings in the app and use the export options. The JSON export contains journal data; the media export creates a ZIP archive of attachments. Save the result to a destination you trust. Automatic transfer between devices is not available in the current version.

Can a burned woe be restored?

No. Burning is deliberately irreversible: it permanently removes the woe and its attachments from the app. Export anything you want to keep before burning it.

Why is dictation or audio recording not working?

Open iOS Settings and check microphone and speech-recognition access for Joys & Woes. Dictation uses on-device speech recognition. Recording an audio attachment also requires microphone access.

Why can’t I add a photo or use the camera?

Check photo or camera access in iOS Settings. The photo picker shares only the items you select. Camera access is needed only when you take a new image or video from the app.

Why am I not receiving reminders?

Check that reminders are enabled in the app and notifications are allowed in iOS Settings. Reminders are scheduled locally and do not include journal text.

How does App Lock work?

When App Lock is enabled, iOS uses Face ID or the device passcode to authenticate you. Joys & Woes does not receive or store Face ID data.

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual entries inside the app. Burning permanently deletes a woe. Removing Joys & Woes deletes its local app data from the iPhone, subject to any device backups or exported copies that you control.
